Jeremy Hansen

Jeremy Hansen is a Canadian astronaut with the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). Selected in 2009, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Space Science from the Royal Military College of Canada and a Master of Science in Physics from the same institution, specializing in satellite tracking and orbit determination. He is a CF-18 fighter pilot and has held leadership positions within the CSA, contributing to astronaut training and mission development. He was recently assigned to the Artemis II mission, slated to be the first crewed mission to the Moon since Apollo 17.

Early Life

Born in London, Ontario, Canada, Jeremy Hansen grew up on a farm near Ailsa Craig. He developed an early interest in aviation and space.

Career

Before joining the CSA, Hansen served as a CF-18 fighter pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force, rising to the rank of Colonel. He was selected as one of two CSA astronauts in 2009. He has contributed to robotics, spacesuit development, and mission control operations. In 2023, he was assigned as a Mission Specialist on the Artemis II lunar mission.

Personal Life

Jeremy Hansen is married and has three children. He enjoys a variety of outdoor activities.
