Early Life
Tyler Robert Joseph was born on December 1, 1988, in Columbus, Ohio. He was homeschooled and played basketball throughout his youth, even receiving a scholarship offer to Otterbein University. He ultimately declined the offer, choosing instead to pursue music after finding an old keyboard in his closet and beginning to mimic radio melodies.
Career
In 2009, Tyler Joseph formed Twenty One Pilots with Nick Thomas and Chris Salih. They self-released two albums before Thomas and Salih departed in 2011. Josh Dun joined the band as the drummer, and they signed with Fueled by Ramen in 2012. The duo achieved mainstream success with their fourth album, Blurryface (2015), and have continued to release critically acclaimed and commercially successful music, including the albums Trench (2018) and Scaled and Icy (2021). Joseph writes and produces the majority of Twenty One Pilots' music.

Tyler Joseph married Jenna Black in 2015. They have two children.
