Early Life

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1984, Trevor Noah's early life was shaped by the complexities of apartheid. His mixed-race heritage – a Black Xhosa mother and a white Swiss-German father – was illegal at the time of his birth. This unique background provided him with a distinct perspective, which he later explored in his comedy.

Career

Noah began his career in South Africa, hosting a radio show and appearing in various television programs. He moved to the United States in 2011, becoming the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on The Tonight Show and later The Daily Show as a Senior International Correspondent. In 2015, he was selected to replace Jon Stewart as the host of The Daily Show, a role he held until 2022. Beyond the show, he has released several successful stand-up comedy specials on Netflix and authored the bestselling memoir Born a Crime.
