Ophelia Dahl

Ophelia Dahl is a British-American health activist and writer. She is the co-founder and chair of Partners In Health (PIH), a global health organization dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare to those living in poverty. Dahl has dedicated her life to addressing health disparities and advocating for social justice.

Early Life

Born in England to writer Roald Dahl and actress Patricia Neal, Ophelia Dahl spent part of her childhood in Great Britain and the United States. Her experiences witnessing healthcare disparities while volunteering in Haiti in the 1980s profoundly impacted her life's direction.

Career

Dahl co-founded Partners In Health with Paul Farmer, Jim Yong Kim, and others in 1987. Initially focused on Haiti, PIH has expanded its work to numerous countries worldwide. Dahl has played a crucial role in the organization's growth and development, serving in various leadership positions, including executive director. She is currently the chair of PIH. Beyond her work with PIH, Dahl is a recognized voice in global health advocacy, frequently speaking and writing on issues of health equity and social justice.

Ophelia Dahl is the daughter of Roald Dahl and Patricia Neal. She is married to Tom White.
