Mike Dirnt

Mike Dirnt (born Michael Ryan Pritchard; May 4, 1972) is the bassist and backing vocalist for the American punk rock band Green Day. He is a founding member of the band, alongside Billie Joe Armstrong, and has been a constant presence throughout their career, contributing to their signature sound and songwriting.

Early Life

Born in Berkeley, California, Dirnt was adopted at six weeks old. He met Billie Joe Armstrong in elementary school and they formed a band called Sweet Children, which later evolved into Green Day. He endured financial hardships during his childhood and worked various jobs, including cooking.

Career

Dirnt's distinctive bass lines are a crucial element of Green Day's music. He has co-written several of the band's songs and occasionally provides lead vocals. He has been with Green Day since its inception, contributing to all their studio albums and live performances. He also briefly played in other bands, including The Frustrators.

Personal Life

Dirnt has been married twice and has children. He is actively involved in philanthropy, supporting various causes.
