Born Howard Michael Mandel on November 29, 1955, in Willowdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Mandel was raised in a Jewish family. He worked as a carpet salesman and performed stand-up comedy at Yuk Yuk's comedy club in Toronto.

Career

Mandel's career began with stand-up comedy. He gained attention after a performance at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. He landed a role in the medical drama "St. Elsewhere" (1982-1988). He also provided the voice for the titular character in the animated children's series "Bobby's World" (1990-1998). He has hosted game shows, including "Deal or No Deal" (2005-2009, 2018-2019) and has been a judge on "America's Got Talent" since 2010.

Mandel is married to Terry Soil since 1980. They have three children. He has been open about his struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
