Beatrice Kristi

Beabadoobee, whose real name is Beatrice Kristi Laus, is a Filipino-British singer-songwriter known for her indie rock and bedroom pop sound. She gained popularity through her song "Coffee" which went viral on TikTok and led to a signing with Dirty Hit Records. Since then, she has released several EPs and albums, including her debut album "Fake It Flowers" and her third album "This Is How Tomorrow Moves".

Early Life

Beatrice Kristi Laus was born in Iloilo City, Philippines, and moved to London, England, with her family at the age of three. She learned to play the violin at a young age and later taught herself guitar.

Career

Beabadoobee initially gained attention through her lo-fi recordings uploaded to YouTube and Bandcamp. Her song "Coffee" gained significant traction after being sampled in Powfu's viral hit "death bed (coffee for your head)." She signed with Dirty Hit Records and released several EPs, including "Lice," "Patched Up," and "Space Cadet." In 2020, she released her debut album, "Fake It Flowers," followed by "Beatopia" in 2022 and "This Is How Tomorrow Moves" in 2023.

Personal Life

Beabadoobee has been open about her struggles with mental health, particularly borderline personality disorder, and incorporates these experiences into her music.

Awards

Beabadoobee was nominated for the BRITs Rising Star Award in 2020 and won the Radar Award at the NME Awards in the same year.
