Hewlett's distinctive style, blending influences from hip-hop, manga, and animation, defines the band's visual identity. Beyond Gorillaz, Hewlett has also worked on various other projects, including designing stage sets and creating artwork for exhibitions.

Hewlett was previously married to French actress Emma de Caunes. He currently resides in Paris.
