Born on May 23, 1999, in Bethlehem, New York, Charles began his career as a hairstylist before transitioning to makeup. He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 2017.

Career

Charles's career took off when a photo of him retaking his senior portrait with a ring light and full makeup went viral. In 2016, he became the first male CoverGirl ambassador, working alongside Katy Perry. He launched his YouTube channel, "James Charles," where he posts makeup tutorials, challenges, and vlogs.
