Derek Muller

Derek Muller is a science communicator, filmmaker, and television presenter best known for creating and hosting the popular YouTube channel Veritasium. His videos explore a wide range of scientific topics, often using engaging experiments and demonstrations to explain complex concepts in an accessible way. He is also known for his documentaries and appearances on television programs.

Early Life

Born in Traralgon, Victoria, Australia, Muller later moved to Vancouver, Canada, where he spent most of his childhood. He showed an early interest in science and filmmaking.

Career

Muller earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and a PhD in Physics Education Research from the University of Sydney. He began his career in science communication by creating educational videos. In 2011, he launched Veritasium, which has gained millions of subscribers and become a leading source of science education online. He has also produced and presented documentaries, including Uranium – Twisting the Dragon's Tail, and appeared on television programs such as Catalyst.
