Chino Moreno Moreno

Camillo Wong Moreno, known professionally as Chino Moreno, is a prominent American musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the alternative metal band Deftones. His distinctive vocal style, ranging from melodic crooning to aggressive screams, and his introspective lyrics have significantly contributed to the band's unique sound and enduring popularity.

Early Life

Born on June 20, 1973, in Sacramento, California, Moreno is of Mexican, Chinese, and Irish descent. He grew up in the Oak Park neighborhood and began his musical journey in the local Sacramento music scene.

Career

Moreno co-founded Deftones in 1988 with Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham, and Chi Cheng. The band achieved mainstream success with their album Around the Fur (1997), followed by critically acclaimed releases like White Pony (2000) and Diamond Eyes (2010). Beyond Deftones, Moreno has been involved in various side projects, including Team Sleep, Crosses, Palms, and Saudade.
