Eddie Vedder (born Edward Louis Severson III; December 23, 1964) is an American singer, musician, and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist and one of three guitarists of the rock band Pearl Jam. He is also known for his distinctive baritone vocals. Beyond Pearl Jam, Vedder has pursued a solo career, contributing to film soundtracks and releasing solo albums.
Early Life
Born in Evanston, Illinois, Vedder spent some of his early life in San Diego County, California. He began singing in bands as a teenager.
Career
In 1990, Vedder joined the band that would become Pearl Jam. He wrote lyrics for the instrumental demos that would become the band's debut album, Ten (1991). Pearl Jam became a key part of the grunge movement of the early 1990s. Vedder has also contributed to various film soundtracks, including Into the Wild (2007), for which he won a Golden Globe Award.

Vedder is married to model Jill McCormick. He has two daughters.
Awards
Vedder has won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song ("Guaranteed" from Into the Wild). He has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Pearl Jam.
