Clive Myrie

Clive Myrie is a prominent British journalist and news presenter, best known for his work as a foreign correspondent and anchor for BBC News. He has reported from numerous global hotspots and earned recognition for his insightful and composed reporting, particularly during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Early Life

Born in Bolton, Lancashire, England to Jamaican immigrant parents, Myrie pursued his education at Bolton County Grammar School. He later studied law at the University of Sussex before joining the BBC's journalism training scheme in 1985.

Career

Myrie's career at the BBC began as a local radio reporter. He transitioned to television news and became a foreign correspondent, covering major events worldwide, including the Rwandan genocide, the Kosovo War, and the Iraq War. He has served as a presenter for various BBC News programs, including the BBC News at Six and Ten, and has been the main presenter of Mastermind since 2021.

Personal Life

Myrie is married to Catherine Myrie, an upholsterer and furniture restorer. They reside in London.

Awards

Myrie has received several awards for his journalism, including the Bayeux-Calvados Award for war correspondents and the Royal Television Society Journalism Awards. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2023 for services to broadcasting.
