Ron MacLean

Born in Zweibrücken, Germany, MacLean grew up in Red Deer, Alberta. He developed a passion for hockey from a young age.

MacLean began his broadcasting career at CKRD radio and television in Red Deer. He joined CBC in 1986, initially hosting Hockey Night in Canada updates. He became co-host alongside Don Cherry in 1987, a partnership that lasted over three decades. MacLean is also known for his coverage of the Olympics and other major sporting events for CBC Sports.
