James Leno

James Douglas Muir Leno, better known as Jay Leno, is an American comedian, television host, writer, and car enthusiast. He is best known for his long tenure as host of NBC's The Tonight Show. Beyond his comedy career, Leno is a passionate collector and restorer of classic cars and motorcycles, a passion he shares through his Emmy-winning YouTube series, Jay Leno's Garage.

Early Life

Born April 28, 1950, in New Rochelle, New York, Leno grew up in Andover, Massachusetts. He developed an interest in automobiles at a young age.

Career

Leno began his stand-up comedy career in the 1970s. He became the host of The Tonight Show in 1992, succeeding Johnny Carson. He hosted the show until 2009, and again from 2010 to 2014. In 2014, he launched Jay Leno's Garage, a web series showcasing his extensive car collection and automotive knowledge. The show later transitioned to CNBC as a primetime television series.

Leno has been married to Mavis Nicholson since 1980.
