Gene Klein Simmons

Gene Simmons, born Chaim Witz, is an Israeli-American musician, singer, songwriter, actor, and entrepreneur. He is best known as the bassist and co-lead vocalist of the rock band Kiss.

Early Life

Born in Haifa, Israel, Simmons immigrated to the United States with his mother, Florence Klein, a Holocaust survivor, when he was eight years old. He grew up in New York City and changed his name to Gene Klein before settling on Gene Simmons.

Career

Simmons co-founded Kiss in the early 1970s with Paul Stanley. He is known for his elaborate stage persona, "The Demon," characterized by fire-breathing, blood-spitting, and his long tongue. Beyond Kiss, Simmons has pursued a solo career, acted in films and television, and established various business ventures.
