
Billie Joe Armstrong (born February 17, 1972) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. He is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Green Day, which he co-founded with Mike Dirnt. He is also known for his work with the bands Pinhead Gunpowder, The Network, Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Longshot, and The Coverups.

Early Life
Born Billie Joe Armstrong on February 17, 1972, in Oakland, California, he was the youngest of six children. He received his first guitar, "Blue," at age 10 and wrote his first song at age five, called "Look for Love." He attended Carquinez Middle School and Pinole Valley High School, dropping out the day before his 18th birthday to pursue his music career.
Career
Armstrong co-founded Sweet Children, which later became Green Day, with Mike Dirnt in 1987. The band achieved mainstream success with their third album, Dookie (1994). He has also released solo albums and collaborated with other artists. Green Day is known for hit songs like "Basket Case," "American Idiot," and "Wake Me Up When September Ends."

Armstrong married Adrienne Nesser in 1994. They have two sons, Joseph "Joey" Marciano and Jakob Danger.
