Tyler Okonma

Tyler Okonma, known professionally as Tyler, the Creator, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, music video director, fashion designer, and graphic designer. He rose to prominence as the co-founder and de facto leader of the alternative hip hop collective Odd Future and has since established a successful solo career, known for his distinctive musical style and provocative visuals.

Early Life

Tyler Okonma was born on March 6, 1991, in Ladera Heights, California. He never met his father and spent his early life between Ladera Heights and Hawthorne, California.

Career

Tyler self-released his debut mixtape, Bastard, in 2009, which garnered attention online. He co-founded the alternative hip hop group Odd Future in 2007, releasing several projects as a group and individually. His debut studio album, Goblin, was released in 2011, followed by Wolf (2013), Cherry Bomb (2015), Flower Boy (2017), Igor (2019), and Call Me If You Get Lost (2021). He has also directed music videos for himself and other artists, and created the clothing brand Golf Wang.

Personal Life

Tyler is known for his eccentric personality and creative vision. He is also a prominent figure in skateboarding culture.

Tyler has won two Grammy Awards: Best Rap Album for Igor (2020) and Best Rap Album for Call Me If You Get Lost (2022). He has also received several other nominations and accolades.
