Lamont Jody Hawkins

Lamont Hawkins, better known as U-God, is an American rapper and member of the legendary hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. He is known for his distinctive deep voice and hard-hitting lyrics, contributing to many of the group's classic albums and tracks.

Early Life

U-God was born and raised in Staten Island, New York, the borough also known as "Shaolin" in Wu-Tang mythology. He grew up alongside many of his future Wu-Tang Clan members.

Career

U-God is a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan, formed in the early 1990s. He has appeared on all of the group's studio albums, contributing verses to key tracks. He also released several solo albums, including "Golden Arms Redemption" and "U-Godz Illustrated." His distinctive rapping style and deep voice have become recognizable elements of the Wu-Tang sound.

Personal Life

U-God has been open about his struggles with various health issues throughout his life. He has also had public disputes with other members of the Wu-Tang Clan, though he remains a part of the group.
