Born May 13, 1964, in Washington, D.C., Stephen Colbert is the youngest of eleven children. He grew up in Charleston, South Carolina. He attended Hampden–Sydney College in Virginia, initially pursuing a philosophy major before graduating with a theatre degree in 1986.
Career
Colbert's early career involved improvisational comedy, notably with Chicago's Second City. He gained national recognition as a correspondent on The Daily Show. In 2005, he launched The Colbert Report, a satirical news program where he played a caricatured conservative pundit. Since 2015, he has hosted The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, succeeding David Letterman.
