Early Life
Rema was born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. He grew up singing and rapping while in secondary school.
Career
In 2018, Rema posted a freestyle to D'Prince's track "Gucci Gang". This caught D'Prince's attention, and led to him flying Rema to Lagos to offer him a record deal. In 2019, Rema signed a record deal with Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records. He released his self-titled debut EP "Rema" in 2019. The song "Iron Man" from this EP appeared on Barack Obama's 2019 summer playlist. He released his debut album "Rave & Roses" in 2022.
