Chris Meledandri

Chris Meledandri is an American film producer and the founder and CEO of Illumination, an animation studio known for popular films like Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets, and the Sing franchise. He has played a key role in shaping contemporary animation through his work at both Illumination and previously at 20th Century Fox Animation.

Career

Meledandri began his career at 20th Century Fox, where he rose to become president of 20th Century Fox Animation. During his tenure, he oversaw the production of films such as Ice Age and the first two Ice Age sequels, Robots, and Alvin and the Chipmunks. In 2007, he founded Illumination Entertainment, which partnered with Universal Pictures to finance and distribute its films. Illumination quickly achieved global success with the Despicable Me franchise and continued to produce popular animated features.
