Bob Saget

Bob Saget, best known for his role as Danny Tanner on the sitcom "Full House," was also the original host of "America's Funniest Home Videos" (AFV). He hosted AFV from 1989 to 1997, becoming synonymous with the show's early success and helping to establish its format of showcasing humorous homemade videos.

Early Life

Born Robert Lane Saget on May 17, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Saget initially intended to pursue a career in medicine. However, his creative talents led him to enroll in Temple University's film school, where he developed his passion for comedy and storytelling.

Career

Before AFV, Saget had a brief stint as a correspondent on "The Morning Program" on CBS. Hosting AFV from 1989 to 1997 brought him national recognition. Concurrently, he starred in the popular sitcom "Full House." Following AFV, Saget continued to work in television and film, including directing and starring in "Dirty Work" (1998). He also provided the voice of the future Ted Mosby on the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother." Saget maintained a successful stand-up comedy career throughout his life, known for his adult-oriented humor that contrasted with his family-friendly television image.

Personal Life

Saget was married twice and had three children. He was known for his philanthropic work and support of the Scleroderma Research Foundation, inspired by his sister's battle with the disease.
