Born in Santa Isabel, São Paulo, Brazil on October 27, 1935, Mauricio de Sousa developed a passion for drawing at a young age. He spent his childhood sketching and creating stories, often inspired by the people and events around him.
Career
Mauricio de Sousa began his career as a police reporter and illustrator for the newspaper Folha da Manhã. He started creating comic strips, and in 1959, his first recurring characters, Bidu and Franjinha, debuted. The success of these characters led to the creation of Turma da Mônica, which became a national phenomenon. His company, Mauricio de Sousa Produções (MSP), has expanded to include animation, licensing, and other media.
