Before Led Zeppelin, Jones worked as a session musician for artists like Donovan, Jeff Beck, and Dusty Springfield. In 1968, he joined Jimmy Page's new band, which became Led Zeppelin. As the band's bassist and keyboardist, Jones' musical versatility was integral to their sound, contributing to iconic songs like "Whole Lotta Love" and "Kashmir." He also played mandolin, recorders and other instruments. After Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980, Jones continued a successful career as a musician, producer, and arranger, working with artists such as R.E.M., Paul McCartney, and Diamanda Galás.
