Early Life
Born Gerald Arthur Sandusky on January 26, 1944, in Washington, Pennsylvania, he was the only child of Evelyn and Arthur Sandusky. He became involved in sports at a young age.
Career
Sandusky joined Penn State's coaching staff in 1969 as a graduate assistant. He became the team's defensive line coach in 1977 and was promoted to defensive coordinator in 1986. He retired from coaching after the 1999 season.
Personal Life
Sandusky married Dorothy Gross in 1966. They adopted six children. In 2012, he was convicted on 45 counts of sexual abuse of minors.
