Gayle King was born on December 28, 1954, in Chevy Chase, Maryland. She spent several years of her childhood in Turkey due to her father's work. She later returned to the United States and graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in psychology.
Career
King began her career in television news as a production assistant at WJZ-TV in Baltimore. She later worked as a reporter and anchor at several local stations before joining WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut, where she spent 21 years. In 1991, she began a long association with Oprah Winfrey, contributing to O, The Oprah Magazine and appearing on various programs. In 2011, she joined CBS News as a co-host of CBS This Morning (later renamed CBS Mornings).
Personal Life
King has two children. She was married to William Bumpus from 1983 to 1993.
